Students who participate in services designed for gifted/talented students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication. These skills are often evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity. Furthermore, these skills are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment. Hays CISD campuses will accept referrals for gifted and talented services from November 1 - 22, 2019. Referrals can be made in two different ways. The first option is to complete an online referral form. The second option is to complete a paper referral. Copies of the paper referral form are available in the front office of each campus and should be returned to the campus counselor. Click headline to read more, access presentations and referral form.

A committee of citizens appointed by the Board of Trustees, called the Facilities and Bond Oversight Committee (FBOC), is currently reviewing whether to recommend a bond initiative to go before voters in May 2020. The committee is meeting now through November with the goal of making a recommendation to the Board in December.
Hays CISD teachers and students enjoyed significant gains with the release Thursday by the Texas Education Agency of the 2018 – 2019 accountability ratings, and first-ever official campus letter grades. Hays CISD campuses earned a total of 28 performance distinctions, up from 12 the previous school year. The district’s overall letter grade moved to a ‘B’ up from a ‘C.’ The number of individual campuses earning an ‘A’ doubled from what they would have earned if campus letter grades were officially included in the 2017-2018 ratings. And, for the first time since 2016, no schools in Hays CISD earned an ‘F,’ or its equivalent.
Hays CISD’s District Leadership Team (DLT) serves as an advisory committee to provide input to the superintendent throughout the school year. The committee is comprised of teachers, non-teaching professionals, parents, and business and community members as outlined in board policy. Committee members serve staggered terms. Click link to learn additional details about DLT and to access the nomination form.
