The Hays CISD Child Nutrition building headquarters is named after a very special person - Helen Alcala, who was a longtime Hays CISD cook and cafeteria worker until 1980. Upon her retirement, she went on to open the first Mexican restaurant on Buda's Main Street, which operated successfully for nearly four decades until Helen's passing in 2017.
