I am Nurse Kelly, your child's school nurse. I have 14 years of experience as a registered nurse, with this being my third year at Pfluger Elementary. I graduated from Valparaiso University with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. My professional nursing background is in school nursing, diabetes education, and outpatient Women's Health.  

I lived in the Chicago suburbs my whole life until my family and I decided to move to Texas four years ago! I now live in Kyle with my husband and two daughters, who are Pfluger Falcons as well.

My role as the school nurse is to support our student's education by promoting and maintaining good health, as well as taking care of acute injury and illness as it occurs. 

School nurses perform required health screenings, monitor state-mandated immunizations, and maintain the school population's health through identification potentially communicable diseases. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have regarding school health or your child's individual needs.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone back at school! A few reminders about how to make sure your student is set up for a healthy start to the school year:

• Encourage healthy habits to prevent illness: including frequent and correct hand washing.

• Send a re-fillable water bottle to school and encourage your student to be well hydrated.

• Make sure your student eats breakfast or that he/she arrives on time to have breakfast in school.

• Ensure your student gets 8-10 hours of sleep

• Please make sure that when sending your child to school they are well enough to participate in the school day.

• Please keep your student’s home if they are sick. Please do not send your student to school after giving students fever-reducing, anti-nausea, or anti-diarrheal medication.

• All Students are encouraged to keep a full change of clothing in their backpacks daily in the event of bathroom accidents, spills, etc. The nurse’s office does have spare clothing, but our supply is limited. Clothing donations are always welcome, especially shorts/pants with elastic waist bands.

Information regarding Medications at School:
Students at the elementary level must keep medication in the nurse’s clinic unless otherwise approved by a physician. We must have the appropriate authorizations on file for your student to be able to receive medications while at school. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NURSE MUST HAVE THE PRESCRIPTION LABEL. The prescription label must also match the healthcare provider order. Most often it is easiest to bring the prescription box to school with the medication. If you do not have a prescription label, take the medication to your pharmacy as they can usually reprint a label for school. In addition, many parents administer medications at home as well as at school. A pharmacy can split medications between bottles with prescription labels on each to allow for a bottle at school.

Vision and Hearing Screening
Screening dates for Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th are on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 and Thursday, October 22, 2026. Scoliosis screening for 5th grade girls will be on Monday, November 16, 2026.
