LOA Class of 2025

Information For Graduates:

All Graduates must bus to Strahan Arena. Come ready! Dressed, make-up, hair, etc

Students Must Arrive at LOA by 3:35 ready to go. ALL students will ride the bus from LOA to Strahan Arena. No exceptions. If you have questions or concerns. Have your parent email Jana.Jennings@hayscisd.net.

Upon arrival, students will go straight to the Graduation Holding Room. Parents are not allowed in the holding room. Students may not leave once inside.

NO LIMIT ON GUESTS - BRING THE WHOLE FAMILY

Graduation Day Check-In Notice:
All students will be checked for prohibited items before entering the school on Graduation Day. If you're found with prohibited items, you will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony. A parent or guardian will need to pick you up from Live Oak Academy. You will not be allowed on the bus.

Leave It Behind:
Do NOT bring purses, backpacks, makeup bags, or similar items to Live Oak Academy on Graduation Day. These will not be allowed on the bus and must be left behind. You may pick up any left items the next day at the LOA office. Live Oak Academy is not responsible for items left at the school.

Cell Phone Policy:
If you choose to keep your phone during the ceremony: It must be on silent and kept out of sight. You may quietly text your parents or guardians if needed PRIOR to the ceremony beginning. If a phone is heard during the ceremony, it will be confiscated and can be picked up the next day at the Live Oak.

Dress Code:
You are not allowed to decorate your cap or wear anything extra.

  • Allowed: Dresses or skirts / Slacks or dress jeans / Collared shirts or blouses

  • Not Allowed: Casual t-shirts, shorts, or anything too informal. Look sharp—this is a big day!

  • Allowed: Dress shoes / Heels (only if you can walk confidently in them!) / Dress sandals / Boots

  • Not Allowed: Flip-flops / Tennis shoes / Bare feet (yes, really)

  • Not Allowed: glitter, paint, stickers, leis, serapes, or additional items. If your cap is decorated or you bring any unapproved regalia, it’ll be taken up can be picked up the next day at Live Oak

Diploma & Name Announcement Info:

  • Diplomas will display your legal name - no exceptions.

  • Your legal name will also be called as you walk the stage.

Want to request a name exception?
A parent must email Ms. Jennings at Jana.Jennings@HaysCISD.net by May 20th for admin approval. Approvals are not guaranteed and are subject to District guidelines.

IMPORTANT: Diplomas are not reprinted. This is your only copy!

Entering the Arena:

Walking the Stage – Final Steps

  • Smile and wave as pictures are taken while you walk down the stairs.

  • Stay standing until all graduates are by their chairs and Mr. Agnew tells you to sit.

  • Do not remove your cap during the Pledge of Allegiance.

Scholarships & Accolades

  • Listen for your name to be called for scholarships and accolades.

  • Stand until all names are called, then sit once it's over.

Certification:

  • Dr. Wright, our Superintendent, will certify you as graduates by the State of Texas.

Parents: Heads Up!
Parents, watch carefully! We do not call graduates in Alpha order.

Graduation Ceremony:

During the Ceremony – Celebrate and Cheer!

  • Cheer for your classmates as they walk the stage! Celebrate their accomplishments!

  • Get your diploma folder and don’t forget it—we do not reprint diplomas.

Moving the Tassel

  • After everyone has walked, a student will signal for you to move your tassel from the right to the left side of your cap.

Toss Your Caps!

  • At the end of Mr. Agnew's speech, right after he says, "Congratulations, Class of 2025," everyone will throw their caps in the air!

    ○ Watch for Mr. Agnew’s signal to toss them!

Post-Ceremony Celebration

  • A song will play, and you’re free to find your family and guests.

  • Leave the building immediately after—there will be no re-entry.

  • Pictures will need to be taken Outside

After Graduation:
Anything left behind will be brought to Live Oak Academy for pick-up the next day.

Counselor Items:

Cords/Medals: LOA cords and medals will be passed out at Graduation.
School Acceptance Letters: Have you been accepted at a trade school or college? Bring the letter to Mrs. Crowe in the office immediately in order to be recognized during graduation! We cannot take verbal confirmations.
Scholarships: Are you receiving a scholarship or joining a branch of the armed services? Bring the letter to Mrs. Crowe in the office immediately in order to be recognized during graduation! We cannot take verbal confirmations.
