Hello Bobcat Family!

I am currently in my 24th year in education, and I am joining Hays CISD with a grateful heart. I have had the privilege of teaching for 19 years, serving students in grades 1–12 in several public school districts, including SAISD, NEISD, RFISD, LISD, CISD, and Trinity Charter Schools.

I also have 11 years of administrative experience, serving as an Instructional and Curriculum Coordinator, Programs Coordinator, Associate Principal, and Assistant Principal. I am certified as a Generalist (Grades 1–8), Reading Specialist, Special Education (EC–12), English as a Second Language (EC–12), and Principal.

Throughout my educational journey, I have received extensive training in behavior intervention, safety and security, trauma-informed care, crisis prevention, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and restorative practices. During my ten years with Trinity Charter Schools, I had the privilege of serving on teams that established safe and supportive campuses for students who had been rescued from human trafficking, abuse, and neglect throughout Texas.

I later had the honor of serving as Associate Principal at Rockport-Fulton High School DAEP and as Assistant Principal at Rockport-Fulton High School, London Middle School, and Canyon High School.

I was raised between San Antonio, Canyon Lake, and Montgomery, Alabama, by the greatest generation. My husband and I have been married for 22 years, and together we have four children and one granddaughter.

I’m excited to join the Barton Bobcat Nation! My passion for students, dedication to supporting staff, and commitment to excellence will help our Bobcats continue to grow, achieve, and thrive every day. I look forward to partnering with our students, staff, and families as we build on Barton Middle School’s tradition of excellence.

I feel very fortunate to be part of the Bobcat family and to continue supporting our students and families for the 2025–2026 school year. This is my 23rd year in education and my 12th year as an Assistant Principal. I’m especially excited to begin my 5th year at Barton.

Although I wasn’t always certain I wanted to be a teacher, I always knew I wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of children. With that goal in mind, I attended Saint Edward’s University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American Studies. I later pursued my teaching certification through the University of Texas and discovered that working with students and teachers was truly my calling. This led me to earn a Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Administrative Leadership from Concordia University.

My teaching background includes Math, Reading, and Language Arts across 6th, 7th, and 8th grades in both rural and urban districts. While with Austin ISD, I served in a variety of leadership roles, including Team Lead Teacher, Curriculum Specialist, Professional Development Committee Chair, and English/Language Arts Department Chair. 

As Assistant Principal, I am committed to working alongside our faculty and staff to carry out the vision and mission of Barton Middle School. I will serve as the Title IX Coordinator and oversee students with last names L–Z in grades 6–8.
