    Tom Green Teacher of the Year (TOY):  Mandie Perez
    Mandie Perez (4th Grade) is Tom Green Elementary's 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year!  Mrs. Perez is always going over and beyong to make incredible lesson plans for her class and keeping students engaged.  Her classroom management is remarkable and she always has the desire to see students succeed. It is truly amazing to see how her students are excited to learn and grow in her class!  Mrs. Perez excels in her role as fourth team leader, helping and sharing resources with not only her team members but with other grade levels as well. She leads by example and it is evident that she is very knowledgeable in her curriculum. She also gives of her time outside of school hours by assisting in tutoring and clubs.  Mrs. Perez's passion and commitment to teaching and helping her students reach their goals are noticeable every single day. Her positive attitude makes our school a great place for students, staff, and anyone who has the pleasure to know her!

    Tom Green Staff Member of the Week:  Celia Oosterhuis  
    Celia Oosterhuis (Mrs. O) is a wonderful teacher who always has great ideas to bring to the 4th grade team.  She works hard to come up with the best ideas to help raise students to the next level.  She is an outstanding writing and reading teacher, who makes learning fun.  Not only is Mrs. O. a great teacher, but she is a great friend and is always making people laugh and have fun.  Thank you, Mrs. O for makingTom Green Elementary a great place to learn and work!

    TGES Teacher (Shonda Davilla) Receives VFW Teaching Award
    The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) presented Shonda Davilla with the National Citizenship Education Teacher Post Recognition Award on January 31st.  This award is in resognition of promoting citizenship education in her classroom and school. Congratualations Ms. Davilla!  We are so proud that you chose Tom Green Elementary to call your home.

  • Graduation 2020 Date Change

    As we all make adjustments in our lives to combat coronavirus – this is a big one for our graduating seniors. Texas State has canceled all events through the end of May. This includes our Hays, Lehman, and Live Oak Academy graduation ceremonies that had been scheduled for May 26, 2020 at Strahan Arena at the University Events Center. We have now secured the facility for June 26, 2020, for our three graduation ceremonies. They will remain at the same times: 10:00 a.m. for Hays High School, 2:00 p.m. for Live Oak Academy, and 5:30 p.m. for Lehman High School. Click "Read More" for additional details!

  • Moreno Named First Hays CISD Fine Arts Director

    Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright announced Friday that Patty Moreno has been selected as the first-ever fine arts director for Hays Consolidated Independent School District. She is a career professional music educator with nearly 30 years of experience. By accepting the position in Hays CISD, Moreno is returning home to the school district where she started in the teaching profession. “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Patty home,” said Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright. “She knows our district, she has a wealth of fine arts knowledge, and she has the passion it takes to keep our programs among the finest in the state.”

  • Upcoming Public Forums Regarding Potential 2020 Bond

    The Board of Trustees will host three public forums regarding a potential, upcoming bond election for May 2020. [** Jan 11 - MMS ** Jan 13 - DMS ** Jan 15 - WMS **] The goal of the public forums during the development of a potential bond is for the Board of Trustees to listen to feedback regarding the proposed projects. Your comments and questions will assist the Board in deciding whether to call for a bond election and, if so, in formulating the final propositions that would appear on the ballot. Hays CISD is currently considering a bond election for May 2, 2020. The deadline to call for a May 2020 bond election is in February 2020.   • Navigate Your Future Night - MS & HS Students + Parents

Schedule = 6:00-6:40 PM Open Session includes: Introductions and Welcome, College credit opportunities for high school students. 6:50-8:10 PM - Rotate through sessions includes: Tips for college admission, financial aid-ways to pay for college, presented by TAMU and TXST Admissions * How to be a successful high school student (graduation requirements), presented by the Hays CISD Counseling Department * Understanding your PSAT 8 and PSAT/NMSQT scores, presented by Joy Philpott and the Hays CISD Advanced Academics Department.   • Hays CISD Gifted and Talented Referral Period Opens Nov. 1

    Students who participate in services designed for gifted/talented students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication. These skills are often evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity. Furthermore, these skills are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment. Hays CISD campuses will accept referrals for gifted and talented services from November 1 - 22, 2019. Referrals can be made in two different ways. The first option is to complete an online referral form. The second option is to complete a paper referral. Copies of the paper referral form are available in the front office of each campus and should be returned to the campus counselor.     Applications for free or reduced price meals will be mailed out to all families each year. A self-addressed, stamped envelope will be provided for the return of the application form.
