    Good Morning Tom Green

    Tom Green Teacher of the Year (TOY):  Mandie Perez
    Mandie Perez (4th Grade) is Tom Green Elementary's 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year!  Mrs. Perez is always going over and beyong to make incredible lesson plans for her class and keeping students engaged.  Her classroom management is remarkable and she always has the desire to see students succeed. It is truly amazing to see how her students are excited to learn and grow in her class!  Mrs. Perez excels in her role as fourth team leader, helping and sharing resources with not only her team members but with other grade levels as well. She leads by example and it is evident that she is very knowledgeable in her curriculum. She also gives of her time outside of school hours by assisting in tutoring and clubs.  Mrs. Perez's passion and commitment to teaching and helping her students reach their goals are noticeable every single day. Her positive attitude makes our school a great place for students, staff, and anyone who has the pleasure to know her!

    Tom Green Staff Member of the Week:  Celia Oosterhuis  
    Celia Oosterhuis (Mrs. O) is a wonderful teacher who always has great ideas to bring to the 4th grade team.  She works hard to come up with the best ideas to help raise students to the next level.  She is an outstanding writing and reading teacher, who makes learning fun.  Not only is Mrs. O. a great teacher, but she is a great friend and is always making people laugh and have fun.  Thank you, Mrs. O for makingTom Green Elementary a great place to learn and work!

    TGES Teacher (Shonda Davilla) Receives VFW Teaching Award
    The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) presented Shonda Davilla with the National Citizenship Education Teacher Post Recognition Award on January 31st.  This award is in resognition of promoting citizenship education in her classroom and school. Congratualations Ms. Davilla!  We are so proud that you chose Tom Green Elementary to call your home.

  • Smith Named New Lobo Director of Bands

    Hays Consolidated Independent School District (Hays CISD) Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright is pleased to announce the selection of Nathan Smith as the director of bands for Lehman High School, beginning with the 2020-2021 school year. The Hays CISD Board of Trustees approved Smith’s selection at its May 18, 2020, regular meeting.

  • Graduation UPDATE

    We learned today that Texas State University has canceled the high school graduations that had been scheduled the second week in August, including all three of our ceremonies. We appreciate all of the help and assistance Texas State has offered our district throughout this COVID-19 crisis and understand their decision. The Hays CISD graduation team met and the district has decided to do hybrid ceremonies at Shelton Stadium that include limited, in-person and virtual, live-streamed components. Specific details, which will help keep the ceremonies safe, are forthcoming. The schedule is as follows: Live Oak Academy – Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.; Hays High School – Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 8:00 p.m.; Lehman High School – Friday, June 26, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. Each family will be allowed two, in-person tickets to watch their graduate’s ceremony.   • Ralph Pfluger Leaves Lifetime Legacy of Advocating for Children

    The Hays Consolidated Independent School District is saddened to announce that Ralph Pfluger died Friday, May 8, 2020. Pfluger, the namesake for Ralph Pfluger Elementary School, served on the Buda School Board when Hays CISD was created in in 1967, and was selected as one of the seven founding members of the first Hays CISD School Board. In 2012, for his lifelong contributions to children, the district, and education in Texas; the State Board of Education named him a Hero for Children.

  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Videos Now Online

    Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Hays CISD Secondary Sheltered Instruction/ESL Specialist Sara Sparks has created several informational videos on various SEL topics. The videos include closed captioning in English & Spanish.
