Hey Hays CISD family, join us as we celebrate the latest installment of Wright this Minute!
On March 9, Hays CISD Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright visited the new wing as he presented a Coin to Assistant Principal Kathy Avila for her efforts in preparing the new building, which opened to students on Feb. 17! Hays CISD Purchasing Coordinator Anston Shockley nominated Kathy for the honor and wrote she has demonstrated "unwavering dedication to her staff and students, ensuring they have everything necessary for a successful first day in their new space."
He added Kathy has gone above and beyond, making herself available at all hours, even during district holidays, to ensure every detail was properly and fully addressed. "She has taken full ownership of this project, approaching each challenge with determination and a solutions-focused mindset," Shockley wrote in his nomination. "Her commitment to excellence and her willingness to advocate for the resources her staff and students need reflect true leadership. Kathy’s tireless efforts, steadfast support, and deep investment in the success of her campus exemplify the spirit of the Superintendent’s Coin of Excellence."
Joining Dr. Wright in celebrating Kathy's recognition was the JHS administration team of Principal Rob Hensarling and Assistant Principals Tim Jacobson, Gabriel Reyes, Christine Velasquez, Jamie Thill and Michael Haase. Also on hand were Hays CISD CTE Coordinator Rick Bough and Deputy Academic Officer David Pierce. Congratulations, Kathy, on the achievement!
