Upon crossing the graduation stage and earning his high school diploma, Jason Diaz wasn't exactly sure what the next step was in life. Sure, the goal of earning his college degree and getting a job were deeply entrenched in his mind – both of which he accomplished in the following years. But even as he fulfilled his parent's wishes, Jason just felt like something was missing.
Lo and behold, when opportunity knocked years later and offered the chance to change the world, Jason didn't hesitate in answering the door. Over the past six years, Jason has relished his role as an educator in the Chapa Middle School Foundational Learning department, helping guide young people toward a bright and successful future. In this episode of Homegrown Hays, we highlight Jason Diaz, a Hays High Class of 1993 alumnus and the Chapa Middle School 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year!
