How about a gigantic Hays CISD shoutout to Sunfield Elementary educator Keke Powell who is prominently featured on the front and back covers of “Raising America: A Visual Celebration of Educators,” by Chantel Jiroch and Careshia Moore! The book sheds light on individuals who have dedicated their lives to teaching, and explores what led them to the classroom, as well as the impact they have made on their students and communities! Keke received her copy of the book on Aug. 13 (the first day of school) and was surprised to discover she was on the front and back cover! Over the past year-plus, Keke has received numerous state and national accolades for her exemplary efforts as a top-notch educator. In 2024, Keke was named as a finalist for the prestigious H-E-B Excellence in Education Rising Star award! She was selected as a subject for the book as she is one of the top influential educators in the nation! Congratulations, Keke, on this prestigious honor!
