Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPs)

Community engagement is a vital component of the success of Hays CISD. This engagement can take many forms, from parent-teacher associations, mentoring programs, to community partnerships and volunteer initiatives. When parents and community members are involved, they become stakeholders in the success of the students and the district as a whole. By fostering a positive relationship between the school district and the community, Hays CISD is better positioned to meet the needs of its students and provide a high-quality education.
As a volunteer, you have the freedom to choose the schools that you want to work with and the type of activities you want to engage in. This flexibility ensures that you work in an environment that is suitable for your interests and skills. Whether you want to assist teachers in the classroom, provide support in the front office, handle lunch duty, provide library coverage or take part in extra-curricular activities, there is always a school that will welcome and appreciate your contribution. Additionally, you can select schools that are in communities that you are passionate about, helping you to make a difference in the lives of the children in the areas that you care about the most.
Anyone who wishes to volunteer must complete a criminal history background check process. If you refuse or are unable to complete the process, you will not be allowed to participate in volunteer activities at Hays CISD. This includes field trips and PTA. Once you set up your account, you will be able to login and change your preferences at any time and edit your hours if necessary. Your volunteer hours are recorded in real time, by signing in and out of the kiosk sites while on the campuses.
