In May 2023, Hays CISD voters approved a bond measure that included the construction of the district's 17th elementary school - Ramage Elementary. When it opens in August 2025, it will need an attendance zone. As a fast growth school district, Hays CISD periodically must change attendance boundary zones to accommodate the opening of new schools and to balance student populations at existing campuses. This webpage captures the district's attendance zone mapping process occurring in the fall of 2024, for maps (upon adoption by the school board) that would take effect in August 2025.
On Monday, December 16, 2024, the Board of Trustees Adopted the final recommendation linked below to take effect for the 2025–2026 school year.
DRAFT Maps Previously Considered But NOT Adopted
-
Note: Maps is this section are not the current prevailing map the committee is considering. However, all maps are subject to change or revival during the map development process. No map is official unless and until adopted by the Hays CISD Board of Trustees.
Maps and links will be added to this section once those maps are removed from active consideration.
- DRAFT MAP OPTION 1
(View Data Table for Option 1)
This map creates an attendance zone for Ramage Elementary primarily by pulling students from the current Hemphill Elementary School zone. Some of the easternmost portions of the Fuentes Elementary School zone are also assigned to Ramage Elementary School in this map scenario because the new school is constructed in the current Fuentes Elementary School zone. - DRAFT MAP OPTION 2
(View Data Table for Option 2)
This map creates an attendance zone for Ramage Elementary primarily by pulling students from the current Hemphill Elementary School zone. Some of the easternmost portions of the Fuentes Elementary School zone are also assigned to Ramage Elementary School in this map scenario because the new school is constructed in the current Fuentes Elementary School zone. Map 2 differs from Map 1 by adding an additional group of Fuentes Elementary students who live north of Bunton Lane to the Ramage Elementary attendance zone. Map 2 assigns all Fuentes Elementary students who currently attend Simon Middle School to Ramange Elementary School, creating a cleaner middle school feeder pattern. - DRAFT MAP OPTION 3
(View Data Table for Option 3)
This map is Draft Map Option 2, plus it moves portions of the school district north of the Sunfield subdivision to Buda Elementary School from Sunfield Elementary School. This option is not necessary to create a school zone for Ramage Elementary, but it would be beneficial to reducing anticipated future overcrowding at Sunfield Elementary School. - DRAFT MAP OPTION 4
(View Data Table for Option 4)
This map involves moving some Camino Real areas to Uhland Elementary, some parts of Uhland Elementary to Fuentes Elementary, some parts of Fuentes Elementary to Ramage Elementary (Elementary #17), and some parts of Hemphill Elementary to Ramage Elementary (Elementary #17). - DRAFT MAP OPTION 5
(View Data Table for Option 5)
This map creates an attendance zone for Ramage Elementary using Map 2 (see below) as a base and by primarily pulling students from the current Hemphill Elementary School zone and a portion of the Camino Real Elementary zone east of Highway 21. Some of the easternmost portions of the Fuentes Elementary School zone are also assigned to Ramage Elementary School in this map scenario because the new school is constructed in the current Fuentes Elementary School zone. Based on school board discussion, Map 5 also makes an adjustment to a small portion of territory (planning unit 89) currently zoned for Uhland Elementary and moves the students to Science Hall Elementary. This elementary level change necessitated a middle school change for that planning unit from Simon Middle School to Chapa Middle School. You can view on a map or data table how Map Option 5 would affect the district's middle schools. -
DRAFT MAP OPTION 6
(View Data Table for Option 6)This map creates an attendance zone for Ramage Elementary by reconfiguring the elementary school zones surrounding the new campus and making a minor middle school adjustment to align a moved group of elementary school students. This map incorporates transportation efficiencies and creates safer bus routes.
Affected current campuses and changes to the current attendance zone maps are listed below.
The Ramage Elementary Zone is Created by:
- Moving some students from Hemphill Elementary to Ramage Elementary (planning units 69,70,71,72)
- Moving some students from Fuentes Elementary to Ramage Elementary (planning units 79 and 87)
- Moving some students from Uhland Elementary to Science Hall Elementary (planning units 98 and 139)
Moving some students from Uhland Elementary to Fuentes Elementary (planning unit 89) - Moving some students from Camino Real Elementary to Uhland Elementary (planning units 63 and 64)
The Minor Middle School Realignment for the Ramage Elementary Zone affects:
- Students currently attending Simon Middle School in planning units 98 and 139, but moving them to Chapa Middle School to attend middle school with their new Science Hall Elementary classmates. View the proposed elementary school Map 6 recommendation's companion middle school map and middle school population projection table.
Addressing McCormick Middle School:
Though separate from the attendance zone mapping process to create an attendance zone for Ramage Elementary School, but in response to concerns regarding the rapidly growing student population at McCormick Middle School, the recommendation from this process will include potentially creating a voluntary transfer program that would provide transportation for students who would be interested in moving from McCormick to Dahlstrom Middle School next year. This move would not affect a high school feeder pattern change or UIL eligibility. View more information on that program recommendation at the current recommendation link above.

Map Disclaimer
-
Important: The maps depicted on this webpage are maps that were presented to, or created by, the administration, from public forums or comment, or by suggestions from the Board of Trustees during the rezoning process. No map becomes effective unless the Board of Trustees adopts it. The district will communicate to families any changes in attendance zone maps. The map that is ultimately adopted to create an attendance zone for Elementary School #17 (Ramage Elementary) would not go into effect until August 2025, the projected opening date for the campus.
