In May 2022, Hays CISD voters approved a bond measure that included the construction of the district's 16th elementary school. When it opens in August 2024, it will need an attendance zone. On July 24, 2023, the Hays CISD Board voted to empanel an Attendance Boundary Rezoning Committee comprised of 14 citizens for the limited purpose of advising and assisting the Board in the process of creating an attendance zone for the new school.
Board Adopted Map for 2024 - 2025 School Year

On Monday, October 23, 2023, the Board adopted committee recommendation Map G as presented below. This map takes effect for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
(Maps are created using small territorial areas called planning units. Planning units are then combined to make up attendance zones. Each planning unit is labeled with an identification number. The district's planning unit population chart shows how many elementary students are projected to live in each numbered planning unit. Moves significant territory west of Plum Creek to Elementary #16 (Planning Units 4, 132, 118, 129, 130, 117B)
Moves unconstructed portion of North Plum Creek to Elementary #16 (Planning Units 113B, 112, 35)
Keeps existing Plum Creek at Negley Elementary (Planning Units 116A, 116B, 113A)
Keeps Mountain City at Negley Elementary (Planning Units 117A, 22)
Moves small portion of existing Negley zone along I-35 (planning Unit 120) to Kyle Elementary

September 29, 2023 - Committee Recommendation Vote
Posted by Tim Savoy on 10/2/2023Following review of feedback submitted online and comments at the public forum, the committee, via email, voted to cancel the next planning meetings and make the Map G package as its recommendation to the Board of Trustees for consideration.
Planning meetings originally penciled to occur on October 3, 2023, and October 10, 2023, were canceled.
