Yvette Soliz Named Principal of New Ramage Elementary

Hays CISD Superintendent Eric Wright announced Monday, 02-24-25, the selection of Yvette Soliz as the principal who will open the district’s 17th elementary school – Ramage Elementary – that is set to welcome its first students in August. The Board of Trustees approved the hiring selection at its February business meeting. Soliz has been the principal of Hays CISD’s Camino Real Elementary School since 2014.

“We are excited to have Yvette at the helm as we bring a new elementary school campus online,” said Dr. Eric Wright, Hays CISD superintendent of schools. “She is an outstanding leader who will inspire campus staff and students. I know in her hands, Ramage Elementary will have a strong start. It’ll have the momentum it needs for continuing success for generations to come.”

Soliz has enjoyed a successful career as an educator for more than 30 years. She began teaching kindergarten in 1992 in Hebbronville, Texas. In 1996, she became a school counselor, earning experience at a junior high school, an early childhood learning center, and two other elementary schools.  In 2006, she was named the assistant principal at Williams Elementary in Austin ISD where she has served until joining Hays CISD in 2014.

“Education is the pathway to opportunity through choices, self-confidence, and resilience,” said Soliz. “It is my moral and ethical obligation to ensure that every student in my care has the support and guidance they need to succeed—while also growing into compassionate learners who care about others and contribute positively to the world.”

Soliz is excited about the opportunity to open a new campus, but will also miss her Camino Real Elementary Roadrunner family. “I have been searching for the perfect words to say to my Roadrunner family, and I have concluded that there are no words that can explain how much I am going to miss this amazing community.” Said Soliz. “Over the past eleven years, I have had the privilege of working alongside each of you, sharing the same dedication, passion, and commitment to our students’ academic, emotional growth and well-being. The memories we've shared and the challenges we've overcome will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Soliz holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s Degree in Education from Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas. She earned her bachelor’s degree, majoring in early childhood education, from Laredo State University. She holds certifications in: educational administration, school guidance and counseling, gifted and talented education for counselors, elementary early childhood education, and elementary self-contained education. Additionally, Soliz was selected for and completed the University of Texas Principalship Program.

The district will name an interim principal for Camino Real Elementary soon and Soliz will spend the month of March transitioning to the role of the Ramage principal. The first order of business as the new principal of Ramage Elementary will be to lead the campus community in the selection of a mascot and school colors.
