Mrs. Jurek Building a Love for Reading with Read- A-Thon

In celebration of Read Across America Day coming up March 2, the Kyle Elementary school library staff is challenging students to do just that – Read Across America! Over the past week, Kyle Elementary Librarian Kristen Jurek announced a fun challenge for classrooms at KES to read a book that highlights each of the 50 states in the Union during the month of March. The books include a variety of different genres including fiction, non-fiction, biographies and more. In addition, students at KES are also keeping track of the hours they are spending on reading at home, part of a fundraiser that aims to possibly purchase a book vending machine for the campus! So far, the school has logged roughly 5,000 minutes of reading and has raised approximately $7,000. Way to go Kyle Elementary and the Panther Library Staff on making sure reading is fundamental!
