STAAR - State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness
STAAR stands for State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness. It was implemented in spring 2012 and includes annual assessments for:
- Reading and Mathematics, Grades 3-8
- Science at Grades 5 and 8
- Social studies at Grade 8
- End-of-Course (EOC) assessments for English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology and US History.

HB 1225 info: If your student does not have an IEP or 504 plan and you feel they may require a special, non-online administration of STAAR, please contact your campus principal by December 1st for all Spring STAAR assessments.
STAAR results can be found in the Hays CISD Parent Self-Service Portal (PSS). Once logged into the PSS, next to your student's picture, click "Texas Assessment Parent Portal" to take you directly to the state's testing website.
