National Motto Display Requirement
On June 16, 2021, the Texas governor signed into law a bill passed in the 87th Texas Legislature that requires a public elementary or secondary school to display in a conspicuous place in each building of the school a durable poster or framed copy of the United States national motto, "In God We Trust," if the poster or framed copy is donated for display at the school.
Hays CISD is the recipient of such donations and is in compliance with the law.
The National Motto Project in Brazoria County, Texas, donated 25 framed posters to Hays CISD in November 2021, for each of the district's 25 campuses that were operating at the time.
