Nurse
Carrie Gittings, BSN, RN
Hello Wolverines!!
I am excited to be the new nurse at Simon Middle School! I've been a Registered Nurse for 18 years; 6 of those as a middle school and high school nurse. My husband and I recently moved to Kyle to be closer to our daughter and newborn grandson. In my free time I love to read, watch the Arkansas Razorbacks, and hang out with my dog, Norman.
I look forward to a wonderful year and thank you for the opportunity to care for your children.
Please feel free to email me at carrie.gittings@hayscisd.net
School nursing is a professional registered nursing specialty that involves identification, assessment, prevention, and intervention to remedy or modify students' health needs. The nurse's goal is to promote the optimum health of students and the students' abilities to achieve their individual educational goals.
Nurses monitor required immunizations, perform mandated health screenings, track communicable diseases, plan for emergencies and provide direct care to students. Please use the links to the left to learn more about Hays CISD District Health Services.
We would like to assure you that medical information about your child is treated as confidential by the nurses and all school staff. We do not share information about your child with outside parties nor can we discuss the health concerns of any other student with you.
News from the Nurse
Please do not send medication into the students’ pockets or belongings for them to take later (this includes prescription and over the counter medications, even cough drops). Medications must be kept in the nurse's office per district policy. Students may self carry inhalers and Epipens with a parent and doctor permission. If a student requires medication at school, please have a medical authorization form completed and signed by parents and a physician. Medication Authorizations and Action Plans can be found here:
