Welcome to another exciting year at Negley Elementary—Home of the Navigators!

I’m Mrs. Melody Crowther, and I’m honored to serve as the proud Principal and “Captain” of our incredible school. It is a true privilege to lead a campus filled with dedicated educators, enthusiastic students, and supportive families. Together, we are anchored in trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to helping every child thrive.

This year marks my twelfth year as Principal of Negley Elementary and my 39th year in education. It’s hard to believe that my journey began as a first-grade teacher in Hobbs, New Mexico, after graduating from Texas Tech University. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to teach students in first through seventh grades across eight different schools, and each experience has strengthened my passion for education and shaped the leader I am today.

After earning my degree in Educational Administration from The University of Texas Permian Basin, I served as Assistant Principal at Kiker Elementary in Austin ISD for six wonderful years before joining the Negley family. Since arriving at Negley, I’ve truly found my home. One of the greatest joys of being a principal is that no two days are ever the same. I cherish the relationships I build with our students and families and love watching our children grow into respectful leaders, lifelong learners, and problem solvers.

At Negley, we believe every child has the potential to discover new horizons. Our mission is to provide a high-quality, well-rounded education in a safe, welcoming environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their fullest potential. Together with our families, we will continue to chart a course toward academic excellence, meaningful relationships, and lifelong success.

Our dedicated staff is committed to creating a safe, engaging, and joyful learning environment where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to do their very best, no matter what obstacles they may face.
