Lifetouch Photography in Hays CISD

In February 2026, Hays CISD, along with the rest of the country, learned that a former chief executive officer of an investment fund/private equity firm (Apollo Global Management) had past connections with Jeffery Epstein. This information was revealed in files on the Epstein case that were released by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ). A month after Jeffery Epstein's death in 2019, Apollo Global acquired Shutterfly - the parent company of Lifetouch, which is the professional photography company used for school photos in school districts nationwide, including Hays CISD.

Understandably, any connection - however removed - with the Epstein has caused concern among parents. Hays CISD received a number of inquiries from parents about the district's agreement with Lifetouch and the measures that are in place to protect student privacy.

Hays CISD has used Lifetouch as an approved photography company in the district for more than 15 years. In 2018, after a formal RFP (request for Proposal) process, the company became the sole provider of photography services at all campuses.
