Important Update for Tom Green: Campus Early Dismissal

Dear Tom Green Family,

I’m emailing on behalf of Principal Muro, who is helping the campus work through the water situation. Here is an important update:

Please Pick Up Your Children if You Can

Tom Green has a unique challenge in terms of managing a temporary loss of water to a campus. The air conditioning system for the majority of the campus is a water-cooling system. Without water, it doesn’t work. Because we will have to shut down the air conditioning system for most of the campus this afternoon, we are now asking parents who are able to do so to please come and pick up your children. If you have a car tag, please bring it with you so that the campus can expedite your student's pick up. If you don't have a tag, don't worry, the campus will look up your car tag number.

If You Can’t Pick Up Your Children, We Will Keep Them Safe

The campus has a more modern air conditioning system in the gym and classrooms immediately adjacent to the gym. For parents who are not able to pick up their children now, we will move students to the cool areas on campus until normal dismissal. We understand some parents may not be able to get to the campus early.

Bus Rider Information

For parents of bus riders – if you are able to pick up your children, please do so. We will run bus routes at the regular time to ensure someone is at home to receive children who ride the bus. They will be able to stay at the campus in the cool areas.

What About Friday?

We believe the repairs can be made today and that tomorrow’s schedule should be back to normal at the campus. However, we won’t know for sure until later this afternoon. We will update you this afternoon or evening about Friday as soon as we know. Contractors working at the campus accidentally cut the main waterline. Ironically, the construction underway at Tom Green – when complete – will modernize the campus and remove some of the challenges we are facing now with the older buildings.
