As the Assistant Principal at Camino Real Elementary School since 2021, it continues to be both an honor and a privilege to serve this incredible school community. Camino Real holds a special place in my heart—my own child attended this school, and I’ve experienced firsthand the strength of the partnership between our families, staff, and community. It truly takes a village, and I’m proud to be part of it.

I’m passionate about helping others and strive to be a dependable, approachable, and solutions-focused “go-to” person for students, families, and staff alike.

Before joining CRES, I worked in Hays CISD for 16 years, beginning my educational career as a Spanish teacher at Hays High School. Over time, I served in several leadership roles, including Department Chair, District Lead, and RTI/Testing Coordinator.

Education is my second career. From 1990 to 2001, I served in law enforcement, working as a Corrections Officer, Deputy, Police Officer, School Resource Officer, and U.S. Customs Agent. These roles taught me how to manage complex and challenging situations with respect, empathy, and a strong sense of safety—skills that continue to guide my work in education.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree and two Master’s degrees from Texas State University. I’ve always valued being a reliable resource for my colleagues—someone who can offer help, guidance, or a listening ear. Supporting others while growing in my own practice has shaped me into the leader I am today.

Since joining Camino Real, I’ve worked to build meaningful relationships with our students, staff, and families. I am committed to continuing that work and supporting Principal Gonzalez in making CRES the best school in the district—a place where every student feels safe, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
