Dear Chapa Middle School Families,

The classrooms are ready, the hallways are shining, and the excitement is building because Chapa Middle School—the Best Middle School in the Universe—is ready to welcome our Cougars back! We are looking forward to another year filled with learning, growth, meaningful relationships, and opportunities for every student to discover just how much they are capable of accomplishing.

After 21 years as a principal, the beginning of a new school year still brings the same sense of excitement, purpose, and hope. Our students are at the heart of why I continue to love this work. Over the years, I have had the privilege of watching young people face challenges, find confidence they did not know they had, reach goals that once seemed impossible, and grow into remarkable individuals. Serving as the principal of Chapa Middle School is more than a position to me—it is a calling. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve our students, support our families, and lead alongside a staff that believes deeply in the potential of every Cougar.

One of the greatest strengths of Chapa Middle School is the incredible group of teachers and staff members who show up every day ready to do whatever it takes for kids. Our teachers are talented, caring, hardworking, and deeply committed to helping students succeed. They spend countless hours planning engaging lessons, building relationships, providing extra support, celebrating student growth, and finding new ways to reach every learner. Our counselors, paraprofessionals, office staff, custodians, cafeteria team, coaches, instructional staff, and support personnel all play an important role in making Chapa a place where students feel known, cared for, and supported. I am proud to work alongside people who truly believe that student success begins with relationships and who consistently put what is best for kids at the center of their decisions.

At CMS, our mission continues to guide everything we do: As a dedicated family of learners, we guide students in developing the tools necessary to fulfill their aspirations, meet life’s challenges, and enrich their community through supportive relationships and high expectations. We believe deeply in our students. We believe in their potential, their resilience, and their ability to accomplish great things. Our staff will continue to build meaningful relationships with students while maintaining high expectations for learning, behavior, and personal growth. We want every Cougar to know that they are seen, valued, supported, and capable of success.

Middle school is such an important time in a young person’s life. It is a time when students begin discovering who they are, what they are passionate about, and what they want their future to look like. Our responsibility is to help them develop the confidence, skills, and perseverance they need to pursue those dreams. At Chapa, we are ready to walk beside them every step of the way. Thank you for trusting us with your most prized possession—your child. We take that responsibility seriously. Every day, we will work to provide the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support our students need to thrive. Safety remains our top priority, and we are committed to providing an environment where students feel secure, connected, and ready to learn.

We also know that the beginning of a new school year can feel overwhelming for students and families. Our goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible.
