El Ranchito is a sleepaway camp at the beautiful Campsite at Shield Ranch, 22 miles west of Austin. Campers and staff live in sustainable, screened shelters among the trees and trails near Rocky Creek. Established in 2007, our mission is to connect children with the natural world by providing an extraordinarily fun and inspiring nature-immersion experience.

El Ranchito gives youth who may otherwise not be able to attend a traditional summer camp program with scholarship rates starting at $50.

Nature Discovery Camp for grades 4th-8th, the campers will be immersed in nature, learn about the natural world, and try new experiences.

The Capitol Area Council of the BSA and the Hays Consolidated Independent School District is providing the chance for boys and girls in 4th and 5th grade at Blanco Vista Elementary school to be a Cub Scout! This program will be available in Classroom E1 Wednesday after school until 4:30pm.

Cub Scouts will start on February 4th and will continue through April 29th 2026. There will be no charge to be a part of this exciting program. The Capitol Area Council is funding this program from membership to supplies!
