Vision
The Impact Center seeks to foster a safe, nurturing and rigorous academic environment, focused on student learning and achievement. We will create a workplace of mutual respect, clear two-way communication at all levels, and a sincere recognition of the value of everyone. This campus will encourage students and staff to be responsible, accept accountability for their actions and strive for continuous improvement. Our instruction will be tailored to the needs of each individual student assigned.
Value Statement
- Respectful: means valuing each other’s points of view. It means being open to being wrong. It means accepting people as they are. It means not dumping on someone because you're having a bad day. It means being polite which is not negotiable. It means not being disrespectful towards people because they're different than you. (excerpted from Urban dictionary)
- Responsible: having the job or duty of dealing with or taking care of something or someone; able to be trusted to do what is right or to do the things that are expected or required; involving important duties, decisions, etc., that you are trusted to do. (excerpted from Merriam-Webster online)
- Accountable: “Doing the right thing even when no one is watching.” (Scotty Vasquez, Esq.) In general, answerable for one’s conduct, discharge of assigned responsibilities, or performance. (Business Dictionary online)
Discipline Philosophy
The Impact Center affords the student an opportunity to evaluate their behavior and accept responsibility for personal behavioral choices. Daily feedback through the use of a point system provides each student’s information about their behavior. Infractions of school rules are documented and communicated through the point system to each student. The intent of the Impact Center is to provide each student with the necessary feedback and strategies to re-evaluate and change behaviors and consequently demonstrate behaviors that create growth in self-esteem, problem solving, and goal setting.
