Spanish National Honor Society Mission Statement
The purpose of the Spanish National Honor Society is to bring like-minded students who have a passion for the Spanish language together, to increase awareness of Spanish culture, and encourage students to continue as lifelong Spanish learners.
What is Socieda Honoraria Hispánica ?
We are an honorary society sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese AATSP, formerly organized in 1953 as the Spanish National Honor Society, and the name was changed in 1959. Our purpose is to recognize high achievement in Spanish by students of secondary schools and to promote a continuity of interest in Hispanic studies.
What about Johnson's Chapter?
We were organized by Profe Felipe Mendoza in 2021 and we form the Los Jaguares Chapter of Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica.
Señora Luz Heaney currently serves as the SHS - Los Jaguares advisor.
