Hello, Pfluger community. Welcome back to another amazing year of learning and growing! My name is Charlene Criner (the kids call me Miss C.), and I am honored to be the lead counselor at Ralph Pfluger Elementary School! Go Falcons! I have over 25 years of experience in public education where I have served children and families in three states. My experience includes working as an elementary school teacher (general and special education), elementary and middle school counselor, behavior interventionist, and district behavior specialist. Before returning to Texas last year, I spent several years in New Mexico working as a preschool through 8th grade counselor and as a member of the New Mexico Suicide Intervention Project Suicide Prevention Team. In addition, I had the opportunity to earn additional specialist certifications as a counseling professional. As a professional member of the American School Counselor Association,, I lead, advocate and collaborate to promote equality, equity, and success for all students by adhering to ethical and professional standards. I approach every child with an open mind and offer a safe, trusting, non-judgmental space where every child is valued, heard and affirmed. I look forward to getting to know you and partnering with you to support your child. Below is my contact information for your reference. Please feel free to reach out when support is needed.

    Take care,

     Charlene

Hello Falcons! My name is Rena Bertelson, and I am thrilled to be the newest addition to the counseling team at Pfluger Elementary as the Mental Health Counselor. With a background in social work, I am passionate about supporting the social-emotional and mental well-being of students, staff, and the community. As a mom of three wonderful children, I understand the importance of fostering a nurturing and compassionate environment for young minds to flourish. Outside of work, you can find me cherishing quality time with my loved ones and exploring the great outdoors. I am truly excited to collaborate with the Pfluger community and make a positive difference in the lives of our students. Together, let's create a safe and empowering space for growth and emotional well-being.

     Kind regards,
