Students who participate in services designed for gifted/talented students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication. These skills are often evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity. Furthermore, these skills are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment. Below is a timeline for the referral and assessment window.
- September 25, 2024 at 7:30PM at the Performing Arts Center: An informational meeting for parents/guardians who are interested in having their child assessed for Gifted and Talented services will be held.
- October: The referral period is open from October 1 – 31. Referrals can be made at THIS LINK. The link will open on October 1, 2024.
- November–January: Students will be tested during this time period.
- March 1: Parents/guardians will receive notification via email regarding their child’s assessment results.
- April 1-15: The summer referral period is open. Referrals can be made at THIS LINK. The link will open on April 1, 2025.
- Summer 2025: Assessment dates TBD.
If your child is already identified as G/T, he/she does not need to be reassessed. If you have any questions, contact Tish Cawley at tish.cawley@hayscisd.net or 512-268-2141 ext. 45035.
