Gifted & Talented (G/T) Services
Campus Message
-
Welcome to the Negley G/T page! Our hope is that this will be a place you can come to for resources and information. If you have any questions about the Negley Cluster Model or services at NES please contact our campus G/T Liaison, Stephanie Estes, at Stephanie.Estes@hayscisd.net.
The Negley Gifted and Talented Program provides engaging and cooperative learning opportunities, in each grade level. During class time, students are provided differentiated assignments that engage their academic knowledge and peaks their interest and creativity.
Students participate in WIN (What I Need) Time to further enhance their creativity and thinking. During WIN time, students are given enriched and accelerated projects.
Negley uses Depth and Complexity questioning to deepen comprehension and our understanding, while applying our knowledge, in all academic subjects.
“The Depth and Complexity Icons are visual prompts designed to help students go beyond surface level understanding of a concept and enhance their ability to think critically. These critical thinking tools help students dig deeper into a concept (depth) and understand that concept with greater complexity.” Source: envisiongifted.com

Hays CISD Gifted and Talented Referral Period Opens for
Kindergarten - 11th Grade Students
Students who participate in services designed for gifted/talented students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication. These skills are often evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity. Furthermore, these skills are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment.
Hays CISD campuses will accept referrals for gifted and talented services from October 1 - 31. Referrals can be made in two different ways. The first option is to complete an online referral at THIS LINK. The second option is to complete a paper referral. Copies of the paper referral form are available in the front office of each campus and should be returned to the campus counselor.
Assessments will be conducted from November through January. Evaluation of student data and selection of services occur in February. Parents are notified by email in March of the final determination of services.
On September 25, a parent meeting was held to provide an overview of the characteristics of gifted students, the referral and assessment timeline and procedures, and Hays CISD’s gifted service design. If your child is already identified as G/T, he/she does not need to be reassessed. If you have any questions contact Tish Cawley at tish.cawley@hayscisd.net or 512-268-2141 x45035.
