Hi! I'm Rachel Beyer, RN. I graduated from Texas Tech School of Nursing in 2016. Caring for children and being their advocate has always been my passion! I previously worked as a NICU nurse and then as a clinic nurse for a local pediatrician’s office. This will be my first year as a school nurse. I am so excited to be joining BVES and getting to know all the staff and students!
Parents: If you ever need anything or have a question for me - please don't hesitate to reach out!
School nursing is a professional registered nursing specialty that involves identification, assessment, prevention, and intervention to remedy or modify students' health needs. The nurse's goal is to promote the optimum health of students and the students' abilities to achieve their individual educational goals.I am excited for the opportunity to care for your child and will provide exceptional care and keep you informed and a part of our team.
Nurses monitor required immunizations, perform mandated health screenings, track communicable diseases, plan for emergencies and provide direct care to students. Please use the links to the left to learn more about the Hays CISD District Health Services. I would like to assure you that medical information about your child is treated as confidential by the nurses and all school staff. We do not share information about your child with outside parties nor can we discuss health concerns of any other student with you.News From the Nurse:
If your student needs to take prescription OR Over the Counter medication during the school day, we must have a medication authorization from your child’s doctor. We will also need an emergency action plan for any student with severe allergic reactions, asthma, seizures or any other condition that would require an emergency medication be kept at school. These forms must be completed for each new school year.
If your student is seen in the nurse's clinic, I will send personal communication with you via nurse passes for minor needs. If the situation is more serious, or we need to have a conversation, I will call you. Please make sure we have the most updated phone number in our system to reach you in the event of illness or emergency. Updated phone numbers can be emailed to BVES_Attendance@hayscisd.net

Please visit here for a full list of Texas minimum vaccine requirements for school. Updated immunization records may be emailed to rachel.beyer@hayscisd.net. Exemption forms for immunizations can be requested here.
