School History

  • Hays CISD's 14th elementary school was approved by voters in the May 2017 bond election and construction began on the campus in June 2017. The campus has a capacity of approximately 900 students and serves grades K - 5, offering state-of-the-art educational opportunities.

The 115,000 square-foot campus opened in August 2018. The construction cost estimate was $28,750,000 ($250 per SF). The $33,925,000 total cost of project includes all necessary furniture, equipment, site infrastructure, architecture costs, and other fees. Any bond savings from a reduced cost of this project will be used to pay down existing debt, which returns the money to the taxpayers.

On December 11, 2017, the Board of Trustees voted to name the campus Uhland Elementary School in tribute to the Uhland School that was a centerpiece of the community during much of the 20th century.
