McCormick Middle School officially opened on Friday, August 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony that paid tribute to the historic and extraordinary legacy of the school’s namesake – Dr. T. C. McCormick, Jr. Dr. McCormick was a beloved and iconic figure in the history of Buda - serving on the Buda School Board, working as an early champion to desegregate his medical practice and the Buda schools, delivering between 1,600 and 1,800 babies, serving as mayor of Buda, and much more.
