    PARTICIPATION and ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Lobo Looks at Lehman High School is a 4 year program that meets every day. When a student has a total of 900 hours, the student is eligible to take the 100 question written portion of the State Board Exam for licensing in Austin.

Upon completion of 1000 hours, along with the 500 hours credit for successfully completing all courses required for graduation, the student can schedule the practical portion to complete the state exam and then be ready to begin a career in Cosmetology.

Regular class attendance is necessary in Cosmetology. Each student should not miss more than 5 days each school year.  Besides regular school day hours, the student is expected to attend at least 100 after-school hours.  The after school and special event hours are crucial to reach the required 1,000 hours to complete program.  We offer weekly after-school hours plus Saturday events during the year such as “Princess Day” and “Mother’s Day Makeovers”.  These events are highly encouraged and failure to attend could result in not reaching required hours plus lower participation grades.

When a student leaves the classroom for any reason, the student must clock out. This includes pep rallies, assemblies, counselor, early releases, office, ISS, etc. Along with attendance, the student is required by the state to complete a certain number of practical applications and hours in theory. Regular attendance is an absolute necessity for a student to accrue 1000 hours by May/ June of the student’s senior year. A student absent 30 curriculum days will be terminated from the cosmetology program. Students must complete 90% of the required hours and have a passing grade to move on to the next course in the program.

130 hours clocked -Principles of Cosmetology Design and Color Theory

130 hours clocked – Intro to Cosmetology

    320 hours clocked -Cosmo 1

    320 hours clocked-Cosmo 2
