Jill Wenzel, RN
My name is Nurse Jill and I'm excited about returning to Negley for my fourth year as your school nurse! I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and my MSN from The University of Texas at Arlington. I have been an RN for 18 years. In my first 13 years, I worked at Seton Medical Center and Dell Children's Medical Center Austin in the NICU. I was a transport and high-risk neonatal nurse. For the past 5 years, I've been an elementary school nurse in the Hays district. I live here in Kyle with my husband, our two children; Luke (9yo) and Brooklyn (6yo), and our 2 Boston Terriers, Walker & Leia! My kids will be back as Navigators; Luke will be in 4th grade and Brooklyn will be in 1st! Thank you to the teachers, staff, and parents for a great year last year!
Parents: If you need anything from me, please do not hesitate to call or send me an email. My door is always open!
Let's work together to have an amazing, healthy, and safe school year!

News from the Nurse
Dear NES Parent or Guardian:
Please read below for some import information regarding Student Health Services.
- If your student needs to take prescription medication during the school day we must have a medication authorization from your child’s doctor. We will also need an emergency action plan for any student with severe allergic reactions, asthma, seizures or any other condition needing an emergency medication kept at school. These forms must be completed for each new school year.
- If your student is seen in the nurse's clinic, I will send personal communication with you via email for minor needs. If the situation is more serious or we need to have a conversation, I will call you. Please make sure we have the most updated phone number in our system to reach you in the event of illness or emergency. Updated phone numbers can be emailed to NES.Attendance@hayscisd.net
Policy changes are based on guidance from TEA and the health department/CDC. Keep in mind that COVID continues to be a fluid situation and some changes to our policies may occur during the school year. Thank you in advance for your patience as I continue to follow these guidelines and help keep your students and our school safe.
- If your student is staying home ill, please send an email to NES.Attendance@hayscisd.net to account for their absence.
- If your student is sent home sick, they will need to follow the district illness policy discussed with me when picking up your child.
Please contact me for any questions or concerns.
Let’s have a happy and healthy year!
