Will McManus, a long-time resident and member of the Hays CISD community, was first elected to the Board of Trustees in 2018. Before running for the At-Large seat, he volunteered in various roles on several campuses and at the district level. He first served with the Buda Elementary PTA in 1999 and has continued to volunteer every year since including the district level Growth Impact Committee and was honored to be the first person to chair the Facility and Bond Oversight Committee. He and his wife Suzanne were also members of the Hays Band Boosters for ten years. Even as a board member, he continues to volunteer his time at the Hays Clothes Closet and as a longtime supporter and now board representative on the Hays Education Foundation.
Mr. McManus has been in the Hays CISD community since the early 1980’s and is a 1987 graduate of Hays High School. He graduated Cum Laude with a BBA in 1992 from Southwest Texas State (now Texas State University). And returned to school, after several years in the workforce, to earn an MS in Organizational Leadership from St. Edward’s University.
“My love for this community led us back here from Austin so that our children could attend our Hays CISD schools. Each of our three children have been educated from K-12 in this district graduating from Hays High in 2012, 2015, and 2018. Their interest and involvement in a variety of activities, including athletics, band, and academic pursuits, has enhanced my work on the board.”
During his time on the board, the district has made improvements on many fronts, including academics, staff relations, staff morale, community relations, and enhancing the safety and security of students on every single campus. As a fast-growth district, Hays CISD works hard to keep up with an ever growing student body and has carefully considered bonds that meet those demands while minimizing the impact to taxpayers.
In his professional life, Mr. McManus is Vice President of Construction Technology for Dynamic Systems, Inc. Dynamic Systems operates a manufacturing facility and offices in Buda and is a national leader in mechanical construction and a proud supporter of this community, including Project Graduation and the Hays Education Foundation.
