Bobcats,
Great week to be a Bobcat capped off by an outstanding Veteran’s Day Assembly. Our Bobcats did an amazing job showing appreciation for our Veterans. We have 5 more days until staff/students have a 9 day break. Please check your Bobcat’s grades (PSS) because there are a lot of assessments and projects being completed at this time. It appears that spring has sprung early here at BMS. We will be having grade level assemblies next Tuesday in Advisory to review general campus behavior expectations to ensure Bobcats know our expectations and are making good choices. Once we return from Thanksgiving Break students only have 3 weeks of instruction until the end of the 1st Semester.

First Order of Business for Newly Revamped Hays Education Foundation: Fill State Education Funding Gaps
It’s a new day for the Hays Education Foundation – a non-profit that was created to benefit Hays Consolidated Independent School District teachers and students. The Foundation has been working since the pandemic disruption to reinvent itself as an organization that can grow with the district and tackle a changing array of education funding needs. On Thursday, November 9, 2023, the Foundation will host a re-launch event and share its new plans. “The Foundation, a district partner since 1998, has provided valuable assistance to district teachers and students. The first 25 years were successful for the early 21st century Hays CISD. However, with no sign of student population growth slowing, and increasingly uncertain education funding from the state, it’s time to reassess, retool, and remake the Foundation into an organization that can serve Hays CISD for the next 25 years,” said Hays CISD Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright. Hays CISD to Create Attendance Zone for New Elementary
The process is underway to create a new elementary school attendance zone to accommodate the opening of the district’s 16th elementary school. The new campus, located in the Anthem subdivision, will open in August 2024. In July 2023, the Board of Trustees voted to empanel a committee of 14 citizens to review proposed maps, receive public input, and create a recommendation that will be presented to the Board for a vote no later than December of this year. “Board policy requires the district administration to create at least two starting-point maps for consideration by the citizen committee,” said Hays CISD Chief Communication Officer Tim Savoy. “We encourage everyone who has an opinion to reach out to the committee by using the special ‘Zone Talk’ button on the committee’s webpage or attending one of two public forums. People can also follow along as the process progresses, view the prevailing draft maps, and see all of the materials presented to the committee on the committee webpage.” The committee webpage is www.hayscisd.net/zone2023.
