  • District COVID Protocol

    • If your student is staying home ill, please call or email the school nurse so that she can have a conversation regarding your child’s health and clearance to return to campus.
    • If your student is sent home sick, they will need to follow the COVID protocol below to be cleared for school.

    Option 1: Student will stay home for 10 days isolation and symptoms must improve and student must be fever free for 24 hours

    Option 2: Student will see their doctor to receive an alternate diagnosis and symptoms must improve and be fever free for 24 hours (their doctor may or may not COVID test).

    Option 3: Student will have a negative PCR test and symptoms must improve and be fever free for 24 hours.


    • *District Quarantine Policy* If your student is identified as a close contact here at school: while we highly encourage COVID close contact students to quarantine for the 7-10 day period, students are not required to quarantine. If you choose not to quarantine, please monitor your child for symptoms and notify the nurse of any changes in their health.
    • *NEWEST District Quarantine Policy* If a student is identified as a close contact for a positive case in their home:                                                                                                           A Student is required to quarantine for a minimum of 7 full days if exposed to a positive person in their household. If they are able to fully isolate from the positive person; they can test (PCR test required not rapid) on day 5 and come back on day 8. If unable to fully isolate from the positive person their quarantine period will not start until after the positive person’s 10 days of isolation is complete.
    • Also please email explaining your child’s absence so that it can be coded correctly and they can be excused.

    Smencils, Smens, and Keychains are back!  This year all purchases must be made online using the District RevTrak system.  All money made from this P.E. fundraiser will go towards Field Day and PE equipment expenses.  Once your order is placed, Coach Hensley will receive an email notification and deliver your order to your student(s) within 1-2 school days.  Please contact Coach Hensley with any questions or concerns.

  • Upcoming Job Fairs!

    Hays CISD will be attending several job fairs in November 2021 - both in-person and virtual. Hays CISD will also be participating in the annual Red, White and You, held by the Texas Workforce Commission on November 4, 2021.   • Hays CISD Academic Calendar Changed - Nov 8th & Feb 18th Now Student Holidays

    On Monday, October 18, 2021, the Hays CISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously (7 to 0 vote) to add two student holidays to this school year to provide additional planning and preparation time for teachers. The recommendation to the Board to make the change comes from a unanimous (26 to 0 vote) of the District Leadership Team, comprised of teachers, parents, community members, and business leaders. The two new student holidays are: Monday, November 8, 2021, and Friday, February 18, 2022 (creating a 4-day student and family holiday for the Presidents Day break).

  • Hays CISD to Create Attendance Zone for New Elementary

    The process will soon be underway to create a new elementary school attendance zone to accommodate the opening of the district’s 15th elementary school. The new campus, located in the Sunfield subdivision, will open in August 2022. In August 2021, the Board of Trustees voted to empanel a committee of 14 citizens to review proposed maps, receive public input, and create a recommendation that will be presented to the Board for a vote December of this year.

  • Hays CISD Begins the Single-Member Election District Redistricting Process

    The Hays Consolidated Independent School District is required to redistrict the boundaries of its single-member trustee election districts based on the 2020 Census data. To encourage citizen input in the process, the Board of Trustees has named a seven-member Redistricting Advisory Committee (RAC), created a central webpage for all of the information about the process, and opened an electronic comment button for individuals to share their comments regarding the maps and process.   • Class of 2022: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Goes Live October 1st!

    Per House Bill 3, you will be the first graduating class that is required to submit a FAFSA online application as a HS GRADUATION REQUIREMENT. Beginning on October 1st, you have access to complete the FREE online FAFSA (for the 2022-2023 Aid Year) through the Department of Education website at: The sooner you complete your online FAFSA, the more access you will have to be considered for the maximum amount of college financial aid. To prepare you for the FAFSA completion, we will host two VIRTUAL Financial Aid 101 Info Sessions on Tuesday, October 28th, 6:30pm.-8pm. and Wednesday, October 29th, 6:30pm.-8pm. (in Spanish).
