  • District COVID Protocol

    • If your student is staying home ill, please call or email the school nurse so that she can have a conversation regarding your child’s health and clearance to return to campus.
    • If your student is sent home sick, they will need to follow the COVID protocol below to be cleared for school.

    Option 1: Student will stay home for 5 days isolation and symptoms must improve and student must be fever free for 24 hours.  Student may return on day 6 if  able to wear a mask for an additional 5 days.  

    Option 2: Student will see their doctor to receive an alternate diagnosis and symptoms must improve and be fever free for 24 hours (their doctor may or may not COVID test).

    Option 3: Student will have a negative PCR test and symptoms must improve and be fever free for 24 hours.


    • *District Quarantine Policy* If your student is identified as a close contact here at school: while we highly encourage COVID close contact students to quarantine for the 7-10 day period, students are not required to quarantine. If you choose not to quarantine, please monitor your child for symptoms and notify the nurse of any changes in their health.
    • *NEWEST District Quarantine Policy* If a student is identified as a close contact for a positive case in their home:                                                                                                           A Student is required to quarantine for a minimum of 5 full days if exposed to a positive person in their household. If they are able to fully isolate from the positive person; they can test (PCR test required not rapid) on day 5 and come back on day 6. If unable to fully isolate from the positive person their quarantine period will not start until after the positive person’s 10 days of isolation is complete.
    • Also please email explaining your child’s absence so that it can be coded correctly and they can be excused.

  • Hays CISD awarded Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

    Congratulations to our Hays CISD finance team on a fantastic achievement earned this week! On July 25, Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Hays CISD for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021. According to a release, the report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. We at Hays CISD are committed to financial transparency and we are proud of our finance team for earning this honor!

  • Salazar Named Hays High School Principal

    Hays CISD Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright announced Monday that Kristina Salazar will serve as the new principal for Hays High School. At a meeting on Monday, the Hays CISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring decision. Salazar is an accomplished educator with 30 years of experience in education. She has also been a Hays CISD community member, residing in Kyle for 14 years. Salazar replaces the long-time Hays High School principal, David Pierce, who was recently promoted in Hays CISD to a deputy academic officer position.
