Hello Bobcats! I am excited to begin a new year at Barton Middle School, where I will be embarking on my 13th year in education. It is an honor to serve as an Assistant Principal and be a part of the Bobcat family. I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Concordia Lutheran University in Austin, TX. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Mathematics Education from the University of Central Arkansas.
I will serve in the roles of: 504 Coordinator, Campus Testing Coordinator, and PBIS lead for Barton Middle School. In addition, I will oversee Alpha A-L for 6th-8th grade.
Last, we will be working collaboratively with our community, teachers, and campus principal to ensure our students are trustworthy, respectful, attentive, cooperative, kind and self-disciplined (our Bobcat pledge).
With great excitement, I write this introduction as the new Assistant Principal of Barton Middle School. I feel very fortunate to be part of the Bobcat family and to be able to support the students and families. I have been involved in education for nearly 17 years. Although I was not always certain that I wanted to be a teacher, I always knew that I wanted to positively influence the lives of children. So with that goal in mind, I attended college where I studied and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Latin American Studies from Saint Edwards University. I later pursued further studies in the education program at the University of Texas and received my standard teaching certificate. I soon began to realize that working with students and teachers was my calling. I decided to further my education by pursuing my Master’s Degree in Education, with a focus on Administration Leadership from Concordia University.
My background includes teaching Math, Reading, and Language Arts. I have taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade in both rural and urban school districts. During my time with Austin Independent School District, I was involved with and chaired several committees. I served in various coordinator roles, including Team Lead Teacher, Department curriculum specialist, Professional Development Committee Chair, and English/Language Arts Department Chair. I have been blessed with a plethora of experience in facilitating professional developments at the campus and district levels.
As the Assistant Principal, I will continue to work diligently with our faculty and staff to carry out the vision and mission of Barton Middle School.
