  • Hays CISD to Create Attendance Zone for New Elementary

    The process will soon be underway to create a new elementary school attendance zone to accommodate the opening of the district’s 15th elementary school. The new campus, located in the Sunfield subdivision, will open in August 2022. In August 2021, the Board of Trustees voted to empanel a committee of 14 citizens to review proposed maps, receive public input, and create a recommendation that will be presented to the Board for a vote December of this year.

  • Hays CISD Begins the Single-Member Election District Redistricting Process

    The Hays Consolidated Independent School District is required to redistrict the boundaries of its single-member trustee election districts based on the 2020 Census data. To encourage citizen input in the process, the Board of Trustees has named a seven-member Redistricting Advisory Committee (RAC), created a central webpage for all of the information about the process, and opened an electronic comment button for individuals to share their comments regarding the maps and process. This webpage is available through a button on the school district’s website homepage, or directly at: www.hayscisd.net/redistricting.

  • Class of 2022: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Goes Live October 1st!

    Per House Bill 3, you will be the first graduating class that is required to submit a FAFSA online application as a HS GRADUATION REQUIREMENT. Beginning on October 1st, you have access to complete the FREE online FAFSA (for the 2022-2023 Aid Year) through the Department of Education website at: fafsa.gov The sooner you complete your online FAFSA, the more access you will have to be considered for the maximum amount of college financial aid. To prepare you for the FAFSA completion, we will host two VIRTUAL Financial Aid 101 Info Sessions on Tuesday, October 28th, 6:30pm.-8pm. and Wednesday, October 29th, 6:30pm.-8pm. (in Spanish).   • Briones To Lead Simon MS as Next Principal

    Hays CISD Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright announced Monday that Laura Briones, current assistant principal at Simon Middle School, will serve as the new principal for the campus. At a meeting on Monday, the Hays CISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring decision. Briones is starting her 16th year in education, including 10 at U.S. Department of Education designated Title I schools, which are schools that receive added federal funding because they serve higher numbers of students from families with lower incomes. Briones says she is passionate about serving students and families who benefit from strong Title I schools.
