Open Government

  • Hays CISD belongs to you - the taxpayers, parents, students, teachers, staff, and the community. Transparency and accountability are important ingredients in the success of our district. If you need help with information or want to learn more about your school district, we're always glad to help.

The Texas Public Information Act - Open Records

Texas Government Code, Chapter 552, gives you the right to access government records; and an officer for public information and the officer’s agent may not ask why you want them. All government information is presumed to be available to the public. Certain exceptions may apply to the disclosure of the information. Governmental bodies shall promptly release requested information that is not confidential by law, either constitutional, statutory, or by judicial decision, or information for which an exception to disclosure has not been sought.

    The Texas Open Meetings Act

Texas Government Code, Chapter 551, ensures that meetings of governmental entities, such as your school board, are open and accessible to you. The law provides for very limited reasons a meeting may be closed.

Unless otherwise provided in the notice for a meeting, regular Board meetings shall be held at Lehman High School, 1700 Lehman Road, Kyle, Texas during the months of February through June of each year and at the Career and Technology Building on the Jack C. Hays High School Campus, 4800 Jack C. Hays Trail, Kyle, Texas during the months of August through January of each year. Special meetings may be at any location in the district.
