Christi Chabarria, RN

  • Welcome back to school! We are all excited about the new school year.

I look forward to caring for all students and being a part of their health, safety and education.

All medications must be kept in the nurse clinic unless specified by a doctor. We must have an order form signed by parent and doctor in the nurse's office to be able to administer any medication outside of our standing orders. This includes over the counter medication. These forms can be accessed here on my webpage or the Student Health Services page on the district website. Please reach out if you have any questions regarding this policy.

If your child has a specific medical condition that may require certain accommodations at school, please reach out so that we may discuss that and create a plan of action.

All students should remain home when ill. District protocol is that students remain home until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication. Students should remain home when ill with gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea or vomiting and may return when they have improved symptoms for 24 hours. Please notify the attendance clerk when your child is out with parent or MD note.

Feel free to contact me anytime via email, phone or drop by if you have questions or concerns.

Contact Me

  • I am a registered nurse with 20 years of nursing experience. I have been a school nurse in the district for 9 years. This is my first year at the Live Oak Campus and I am looking forward to joining this great team of staff and students. I am married  and we have 2 wonderful children. My husband is a cardiac nurse in Austin. We live in Mountain City and both of our children are students at Hays CISD. I stay busy with family activities, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

School nursing has been very rewarding and challenging and I look forward to many more years. I thank you for the opportunity of caring for your children. I will use each encounter with your children to promote wellness, teach and provide my best care for the children. I am always available for questions, comments, or concerns.

School nursing is a professional-registered nursing specialty that involves identification, assessment, prevention, and intervention to remedy or modify students' health needs. The nurse's goal is to promote the optimum health of students and the students' abilities to achieve their individual educational goals.

Nurses monitor required immunizations, perform mandated health screenings, track communicable diseases, plan for emergencies and provide direct care to students. Please use the links to the left to learn more about Hays CISD District Health Services.

We would like to assure you that medical information about your child is treated as confidential by the nurses and all school staff.  We do not share information about your child with outside parties nor can we discuss the health concerns of any other student with you.
