Johnny Flores

Trustee

Single-Member-District 2
Current Trustee Term Runs May 2023 to May 2026

Johnny Flores was first elected to the Board on May 6, 2023. His story begins in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he was the son of an army combat veteran and a nurse. He spent his younger years pursuing athletics, and even earned a baseball scholarship to play at a junior college. Johnny then spent his 20s pursuing his dreams of becoming a musician, where he had the pleasure of playing on stage both locally and nationally.

Johnny then returned to college to finish his education. Eventually, he earned both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in political science from Texas State University in San Marcos. While at Texas State, he became a graduate assistant and a teaching assistant, where he was offered the opportunity of teaching his own course in American Government.

Finally, after marrying the love of his life and having two wonderful children, he settled in the great city of Kyle, Texas. It was here where Johnny fell in love with this wonderful community, and it was here where he took a great interest in local issues, especially those concerning the well-being of our citizens. In 2023, Johnny was appointed to the Hays County Historical Commission, working to preserve the rich history of this area. Johnny has spent the last few years of his life teaching 7th, 8th and 9th grade history and civics, pursuing his love of educating children.
