Byron Severance was elected to the Hays CISD school board in May 2022, the same month as his son, Bryson, graduated from Johnson HS. His daughter Kylie will graduate in May 2024, and hopes to follow in Byron and Bryson's footprints to attend Texas A&M University. Whoop!
As a trustee on the Hays CISD Board of Trustees, Byron has been a staunch advocate for students, parents, teachers, and staff. His unique background brings to the table a combination of management, service, accountability, supporting people, and finding common sense solutions that bridge divides.
Since Trustee Severance was 16 years old, he has worked in the retail sector and has had a strong passion for delivering outstanding customer service. Byron and his wife Cathy have owned businesses together since 2010, beginning with The Jumpy Place and currently Amish Oak in Texas.
He and Cathy have been on several school district committees through the years and are passionate about volunteering. Prior to being elected, Byron served as the Chair of the Facilities Bond Oversight Committee.
