I am so excited to be a part of the great community of Sunfield Elementary. I began my teaching career in 2010 in Hays CISD and am thrilled to return back home to the Kyle/Buda area. My goal as the school counselor is to advocate for an environment that supports success for all students in order to insure the students have a positive and rewarding experience at school. I look forward to beginning this journey as your school counselor at Sunfield for the 2022-2023 school year. I can’t wait to get to know all of the students, staff and thriving Sunfield Community. Go Sunfield Stallions!!

Candace Barnes received her Masters in Elementary Education from Texas State University. She furthered her education and received her School Counseling Certification through Region 13 in 2016. She is currently serving as the School Counselor at Lamar Elementary in NBISD and will be moving to Sunfield Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year. Candace has 12 years of combined experience in education as a third grade teacher and enrichment teacher at Fuentes Elementary in Hays CISD. She has been a counselor for the past 6 years at Lamar Elementary. She is happily married to a local entrepreneur in the community and has three children. Her son will be graduating in 2023 from Lehman High School and her two daughters will be joining the Sunfield family in the 2022-2023 school year.
