Our school is named after Mr. Rosalio Tobias, an advocate for education and the community for more than twenty years.
Mr. Tobias served in the U.S. Army and graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1973. He was the first elected Latino school board member on the Hays Consolidated ISD school board in 1981. He served as school board president from 1988-1993. He began the Rosalio Tobias Learning Resource Center at Kyle Elementary School in 1997. Mr. Tobias was awarded the Texas Association for Bilingual Education’s Honoree Award for Community Advocacy in 2000 and presented the Texas State Board of Education “Hero for Children Award” in 2001.
Tobias Elementary School in Kyle, Texas opened in the Fall of 2003 and we are honored to carry his name. Rosalio Tobias believes that "learning is the lifeline we extend to our children.”
