I am excited to be Tobias’ School Counselor this school year! This is my 12th year in education and this is my second year as a school counselor, I graduated from Texas State University (B.S) and Lamar University (M.Ed.). I am currently also an LPC-Intern under the supervision of Lisa Remy MEd, LPC-S, NCC, RPT-S. I have three children Edith (6), Owen (3) and Scarlett (4 months) and have been married for 8 years. I love my family they are a huge support system. The counseling program at TES consists of four components: guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services, and system support.
As the School Counselor, I will be going into each classroom once a month for “Counselor Time” in the Fall and once a month in the Spring. We will expand on the 7 Mindsets, our Social Emotional Learning Curriculum, as well as cover topics that build on Character Education. We have lots of fun when I visit the classrooms and I look forward to getting to know your child. I also offer Lunch Groups. We usually have chat, play games, and have fun. At times we may have a specific topic focused lunch group, and at that time you will be notified if you wish for your child to participate.
Outside my office there is a request slip for students, any student in the school can request to see me for various reasons (feelings, friends, school work, etc.). If I receive a request from them they usually come chat with me for a short 5-10 minutes and then head back to class. If there is an immediate concern, parents will be notified.
As a parent, you can reach out to me at any time. I can see students individually or check in on students as needed.
My goal is to make sure that every student has a successful school year! Please don’t hesitate to call me, I am here to help :)
