Welcome Hornet Families!  My name is Elsa Ibarra and I am proud to be your new Assistant Principal. I started my teaching career at Tom Green Elementary twenty years ago, and I am so happy to be back.  This coming school year marks my twenty-first year working in public education at Hays CISD. Prior to this year, I served as the Assistant Principal at Camino Real Elementary for six years.  I have also worked as an Instructional Coach, Intervention Specialist, and Teacher. I have degrees from St. Edward’s University, Lamar University, and the University of Texas at Austin.  I have been a member of this community for twenty-three years and have an invested interest.  I am married and have two daughters: a senior at Texas State and a senior at Johnson High School (GO JAGUARS!).  Both of my girls attended Tom Green Elementary and were proud Hornets. I am also a dog mom to Chico, my fifteen yearold rat terrier.  In my free time I enjoy traveling, gardening, music, and soccer.  

I look forward to our first year together learning and growing as a community. It is my ultimate goal to partner with you to provide our students and dedicated staff a positive learning experience in a fun, safe, and nurturing environment.  I am passionate about my work and can’t wait to see all the great things that are to come.
