Hello Tom Green Hornets!

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!  I am beginning my 5th year as principal of Tom Green Elementary and my 26th year in education. My passion and commitment as an educator has been shaped by my experiences as an elementary teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal. 

 I moved to Texas in January 1997 after growing up in Iowa and graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in Elementary Education.  (Although, I still cheer for the Iowa Hawkeyes!)  I began my career in education as a third grade teacher.  After teaching for 12 years, I became a math instructional coach.  Through my coaching experience, I developed a passion for leadership.  I completed my Masters in Education at Concordia University.  I served five years as an elementary assistant principal before beginning my role of principal.

Our teachers and staff are dedicated to making this year the best yet! 

 On a personal note, I live in Austin with my husband, Chad.  We have two children.  Our daughter attends Texas Tech and is majoring in education. Our son is a Freshman at The University of Tulsa and plays soccer there.
