Hi ! Welcome back.
A committee of citizens appointed by the Board of Trustees, called the Facilities and Bond Oversight Committee (FBOC), is currently reviewing whether to recommend a bond initiative to go before voters in May 2020. The committee is meeting now through November with the goal of making a recommendation to the Board in December.
Hays CISD teachers and students enjoyed significant gains with the release Thursday by the Texas Education Agency of the 2018 – 2019 accountability ratings, and first-ever official campus letter grades. Hays CISD campuses earned a total of 28 performance distinctions, up from 12 the previous school year. The district’s overall letter grade moved to a ‘B’ up from a ‘C.’ The number of individual campuses earning an ‘A’ doubled from what they would have earned if campus letter grades were officially included in the 2017-2018 ratings. And, for the first time since 2016, no schools in Hays CISD earned an ‘F,’ or its equivalent.
Hays CISD’s District Leadership Team (DLT) serves as an advisory committee to provide input to the superintendent throughout the school year. The committee is comprised of teachers, non-teaching professionals, parents, and business and community members as outlined in board policy. Committee members serve staggered terms. Don't forget, this year’s Sales Tax Holiday is coming up fast! The holiday is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 9-11. What's Tax-Free? Texas law exempts the following items, with a few exceptions, from sales and use taxes, if priced below $100: clothing, footwear, school supplies, backpacks, diapers (for babies & adults) More comprehensive lists of apparel and school supplies that may be purchased tax-free, as well as additional details about the holiday, click on the headline above.
The Hays Consolidated Independent School District is pleased to announce that Jeri Skrocki has been named the district’s new director of safety and security. This is a position that is dedicated to ensuring students and staff members are prepared for emergencies and that district facilities are safe and secure. The position was created in 2018 in Hays CISD following the tragic school shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas, and in recognition of the need for the district to employ a senior-level leader who has no other duties besides safety and security management.
