Annie Young, BSN, RN, NCSN

  • I am so excited to be back with the Wolverines for the 24-25 School Year!

I have been a nurse for 18 years and I am starting my 11th year of school nursing.  I graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked in Labor and Delivery prior to school nursing.  My husband and I have one daughter who attends school in Hays CISD.

I look forward to meeting your student and my goal is to keep them safe, healthy and ready to learn! Please reach out if you have any questions or need anything.

School nursing is a professional registered nursing specialty that involves identification, assessment, prevention, and intervention to remedy or modify students' health needs. The nurse's goal is to promote the optimum health of students and the students' abilities to achieve their individual educational goals.

Nurses monitor required immunizations, perform mandated health screenings, track communicable diseases, plan for emergencies and provide direct care to students. Please use the links to the left to learn more about Hays CISD District Health Services.

We would like to assure you that medical information about your child is treated as confidential by the nurses and all school staff.  We do not share information about your child with outside parties nor can we discuss the health concerns of any other student with you.

News from the Nurse

  • Please do not send medication into the students’ pockets or belongings for them to take later (this includes prescription and over the counter medications, even cough drops). Medications must be kept in the nurse's office per district policy.  Students may self carry inhalers and Epipens with a parent and doctor permission.  If a student requires medication at school, please have a medical authorization form completed and signed by parents and a physician. Forms are available on the SMS website to the left of this page or can be sent home with your student.

Incoming 7th grade students for the 2024-2025 school year are required to have a Meningococcal Conjugate and Tdap vaccines OR an up to date, valid exemption on file. ALL students are required to maintain immunization compliance or valid exemptions throughout the school year. Please reach out if you have any questions.  Shot records may be dropped off at school, faxed to 512.268.7808 or emailed to annie.young@hayscisd.net  Students will not be allowed to receive their schedule without an updated shot record.
